LIVONIA (WWJ) – Ever wish you had super powers?

A Livonia company helping kids and adults live their hero dreams is enjoying some international success.

Like so many other great business ideas, this one started small.

Six years ago, Holly Bartman’s little boy requested a super hero-themed birthday party.

“So, I made capes for all of his guests that came to the party — and one of my friends said, ‘You need to make these and sell them’,” Bartman said.

Two years later, with partner Justin Draplin, she founded “Superfly Kids.”

It’s custom work, and it’s all made in Livonia.

“We let people pick the color of their cape, the size … pick an emblem out of eight selections, and the color of the emblem, and then put their own initial on it with their own color selection,” Draplin said.

With 17 employees, in four years the company has sold thousands of capes around the world.

Prices start at $25 per cape.
